Use IPGuru from ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to outside services like IPGuru through apps in developer mode. You add IPGuru's address once and sign in with your IPGuru account.

Add IPGuru

Four steps

Turn on developer mode

On a personal plan, open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode. In a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin turns it on in the workspace settings, under Permissions & Roles.

Create the app

In Settings, then Apps, choose Create. In a workspace, an admin does this in Workspace Settings, then Apps. Name it IPGuru, paste the address, and choose OAuth for authentication.

Sign in on IPGuru

ChatGPT opens IPGuru's sign-in page. Sign in, check that the page lists Read, Write and Spend, and choose Continue. Then finish creating the app in ChatGPT.

Use it in a chat

In a chat, choose +, then Developer mode, and pick IPGuru.

OpenAI changes these menus often, and what developer mode allows depends on your plan. Available actions, including actions that change things, depend on your plan and workspace settings. If the steps above do not match what you see, follow OpenAI's guide: Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT.

Good to know

ChatGPT and IPGuru

  • Sign-in only. ChatGPT connects by sign-in, not by pasting a key. That is how IPGuru works too.
  • Too many tools? If ChatGPT will not load the whole set, create the app with one of the smaller addresses instead, such as https://mcp.ipguru.ai/mcp/brainstorm. The overview lists them.
  • The IPGuru skill. If your ChatGPT workspace offers skills, you can upload ipguru-skill.zip. See the IPGuru skill.
  • First prompt. Start with: "Use IPGuru to open my session and list my scenarios with their Idea scores and app links. Keep this read-only."
