Use IPGuru from Claude

Add IPGuru as a custom connector once. It then works in Claude on the web, in the desktop app, in Cowork and on mobile. Claude Code takes one command.

Five steps

Open Connectors

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors. In older versions this is under Settings. Choose Add custom connector.

Add IPGuru

Name it IPGuru and paste this address. Leave the advanced settings empty. Choose Add.

Sign in on IPGuru

Choose Connect. Claude opens IPGuru's sign-in page. Sign in as you normally do. Check that the page names Claude and lists Read, Write and Spend, then choose Continue. You return to Claude, connected.

Switch it on in a chat

In a chat, choose +, then Connectors, and turn IPGuru on. The connector also works in Cowork and in the Claude mobile app.

Choose when Claude asks

Claude may ask for your approval before each IPGuru action. To stop the prompts, open Customize, then Connectors, and choose IPGuru. Under Tool permissions, set Read-only tools to Always allow. To let Claude work on your scenarios without asking each time, set Write/delete tools to Always allow as well. You can also choose Always allow on a prompt when it appears. Claude may still ask before an action that deletes something.

Custom connectors depend on your Claude plan. On Team and Enterprise plans, an organisation owner adds IPGuru first, in Organization settings, then Connectors. Members then find it in their own Connectors list and choose Connect. See Claude's guide to custom connectors. On these plans, the owner's tool permissions for IPGuru apply to everyone, and members cannot change them.

One command

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user ipguru https://mcp.ipguru.ai/mcp

Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose ipguru and sign in. Your browser opens IPGuru's sign-in page. --scope user makes IPGuru available in all your projects. Leave it out to add IPGuru to the current project only.

Claude Code asks before it uses an IPGuru tool. To stop it asking, type /permissions and add the allow rule mcp__ipguru. It covers every IPGuru tool.

Teach Claude how IPGuru works

The skill tells Claude how to run a crew turn, when to ask before spending, and how to handle the crew's cards. It works alongside the connector.

Claude and Cowork

Download ipguru-skill.zip. In Claude, open Customize, then Skills. Choose +, then Upload a skill, and pick the zip. Skills need code execution to be on. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner turns skills on first.

Unzip it into your skills folder, so the main file is at ~/.claude/skills/ipguru/SKILL.md. For one project only, use that project's .claude/skills/ folder.

Use IPGuru's method

Say to ClaudeRead IPGuru's structural playbook, then use the expander on my cargo bike idea. Keep the items you think are strongest, decline the rest, and commit the shape. Show me the Idea record when you are done.
While a crew turn runs you can steer it, queue your next question, or change how the crew answers: Nova alone, the experts with Nova summing up, or every voice in a roundtable. Ask Claude.

Good to know

Claude and IPGuru

  • Disconnect. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose IPGuru and remove it.
  • Several chats, one record. Two Claude chats, or Claude and the app, can work on the same scenario. The scenario lives in your IPGuru account.
  • Costs. Reading is free. Crew turns, documents and images use your membership's allowance, as they do in the app. Ask Claude to check with you before it spends.
  • Costs, timing, permissions and troubleshooting for every assistant are on the overview page.
